Kane became the highest-scoring English player in the history of Champions League after his four-goal show at the Allianz Arena.

The England captain has overtaken Wayne Rooney’s tally of 30 goals in 85 appearances in the European competition, all of which were scored for Manchester United. Kane achieved the feat in 40 games less.
“Whenever you’re in a conversation with Wayne Rooney it means you’re doing something well. He’s one of the greatest English players and one of the best players there was in the game. It’s a nice achievement”, Kane said.
The former Tottenham Spurs player also became the first Englishman to score four goals in a single Champions League game. He scored his 50th, 51st, 52nd and 53rd goals ina his 50th appearance for the club.
Kane also became the first player in the history of the league to score three goals in penalties in the same match.
The match also moved Kane into joint 25th – level alongside Fernando Morientes – going past Rooney, Kaka, Samuel Eto’o, Franciso Gento and Bayern great Arjen Robben.
The England captain also scored his second consecutive hat-trick. It comes three days after he smashed Erling Haaland’s record for the quickest time to reach 50 goals in the Bundesliga.
Kane completed the 24th hat-trick of his career, the fifth time he has scored in a row in trebles (or quadruples).
The 31-year-old reached the 50-goal mark in just 35 appearances, to Haaland’s 43 in the German foot league.
Scored his ninth goals in five games this season for Bayern – as well as two in two for England.
