“He could change the game in a session” says Dinesh Karthik on Rishabh Pant’s batting; calls Pant front-runner

Indian wicket-keeper and Tamil Nadu Cricket captain Dinesh Karthik heaped praises for star India wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant. Karthik and Pant can change the game in a session of a Test match and thus rival teams would be fearing Pant for that.
In an interaction with News18, Karthik also talked about how Pant’s rise with the bat has left the place for Wriddhiman Saha in the Test team.
“Rishabh Pant is a great case of what confidence can do to you. The fact that he has done so well in the IPL and for India ‘A’, you can see the confidence coming off every time he plays for the country.”
Pant has been in excellent form. Pant scored 274 runs at an average of little over 68 against Australia in the Test series Down Under, 2020-21. Pant’s performance against England at home earlier this year in February and March – 270 runs averaging 54.
“Now he has grown and become one of those front-runners in the batting where you can see a lot of the international teams talking about him saying they fear him a lot because he could change the game in a session and that is a great place for India to be.”
With his match-winning and match-saving innings, Pant’s confidence in batting and wicket-keeping has skyrocketed. These career-defining knocks elevated Pant’s stature in the international circuit and bagged the Delhi Capitals captainship in absence of injured Shreyas Iyer. Pant lead Delhi Capitals to the top of the points table of IPL 2021 before being suspended mid-way.
Pant has scored 213 runs in eight games in IPL 2021 until its suspension. His highest score was 58* and his strike rate was 131.48. He also scored two half-centuries.
“Wriddhiman Saha is a phenomenal wicketkeeper. To me, he is one of the best keepers in the world. It’s just that Pant has come a long way with his batting and contributed so much that has made Saha sit outside the team,” Karthik concluded.

Rishabh Pant is set to play the World Test Championship finals against New Zealand from June 18 to 22 at The Ageas Bowl in Southampton. Followed by five-match Test series against hosts England starting from August 4. The Test match series is planned over August – September.
