World Cup winner and Spanish football legend have been brought in by Odisha FC to spearhead their global football operations.
Odisha FC on Thursday announced that World Cup winner and Spanish football legend has been brought in by Odisha FC to spearhead their global football operations. Villa will work for ISL club Odisha FC in order to provide them International exposure and this step is a major one in the history of OFC.
Former OFC Head Coach Josep Gombau and Victor Onate are also connected with David Villa as a part of the DV7 group and also the club’s Technical Football Committee along with Villa. Odisha FC had finished at the bottom of the points table for the ISL 2020-21 season, and they want to improve on it shows, the changes that the club is executing will reward them as Club assert for the upcoming season of Hero ISL.

After joining Odisha FC’s Football Committee, David Villa expressed, “I will try to bring my experience. Obviously, I didn’t play in India but I played soccer for 20 years as a professional and before that in the academy. And in all of the projects that we [my team] are involved in, I try to give all of my experience that I have in soccer.”
OFC CEO Mr. Rohan Sharma said, “It’s an absolute pleasure to welcome David Villa and the DV7 group to the Odisha FC family! It’s crazy to think that when I started watching football I used to see David, on my TV. Now together we are trying to help grow football in Odisha.”
David Villa has played for Sporting Gijon, Zaragoza, Valencia, Barcelona, and Atletico Madrid in the domestic sphere throughout his playing career. Villa has won three LaLiga titles, three Copa del Reys, and one UEFA Champions League with Barcelona in 2011. He then went to the USA to play in Major League Soccer (MLS) side New York City in 2015, where he stayed for four seasons at the club and then joined Kobe earlier this year. For Spain, Villa took the field 98 times and managed to win the Euro 2008 and FIFA World Cup 2010.
