In a monumental stride towards nurturing grassroots hockey development, Hockey India has unveiled a crucial initiative by revealing the core probable group for the nation’s inaugural sub-junior women’s national coaching camp. This landmark move seeks to fortify the foundation of Indian hockey’s future, as a 40-member core group prepares to convene at the esteemed Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela, with former Indian women’s hockey team captain, Rani, taking on the dual roles of coach and mentor.
The pioneering development signifies a significant juncture in the trajectory of Indian hockey, bringing together the brightest young talents from across the nation. Carefully selected on the basis of their exceptional performances in the Hockey India Sub-Junior National Championships, these young athletes will receive world-class training and exposure, setting the stage for their transformation into accomplished international athletes.
Following the intensive coaching camp, the sub-junior women’s core group will embark on a series of international matches in Europe, putting their newfound skills and resilience to the test on a global stage.
The core probable group comprises a versatile roster of talent, including goalkeepers Tarra Sailaja, Hodam Pabitra Devi, and Tanuja, as well as defenders Muskan, Rajni Kerketta, Parwati Topno, Sushmita Dungdung, Amisha Ekka, Harjeet Kaur, Komal Pal, Bhavya, Tamanna, and Priyanka.
A comprehensive coaching staff, spearheaded by the esteemed Rani, will accompany the core group throughout the camp. This experienced team includes two assistant coaches, two physios, two masseuses, and a trainer, collectively contributing to the holistic development of the young athletes.
