Huge blow for Rajasthan Royals! Jofra Archer to miss the start of IPL 2021, confirms ECB
Rajasthan Royals will begin their IPL 2021 campaign on April 12 without Jofra Archer due to his elbow injury, declares The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
Rajasthan Royals suffers a massive blow before the upcoming IPL season as England’s pacer, Jofra Archer is going to miss a few IPL 2021 matches in the start. The ECB confirmed on Sunday that Archer will not be able to be a part of the initial matches due to his elbow injury.
The ECB, earlier on Sunday, announced the ODI squad for the three matches series against India and also declared that Archer will be sent to the UK as the doctors want to examine his right elbow injury.
“The ECB medical team will assess the player and, together with Jofra, develop a treatment plan and a return-to-play schedule in due course. As a consequence, Jofra will miss the start of this year’s Indian Premier League, confirmed ECB.
The 25-year-old has claimed 46 wickets in 35 matches for Rajasthan. It is, without a doubt, a massive blow for the IPL franchise to miss Archer during the initial season of IPL.
As it is still unknown how critical the injury is, there is no time set for how long it will take him to recover.
” We are waiting for official communication from the ECB,” a Rajasthan Royals official said.
The franchise took some tough decisions ahead of the season and released Steve Smith from the squad. They now announced Sanju Samson as the new captain of the franchise.
