Ravi Dahiya, silver medallist at the Olympic Games is all set to miss the World Championship.
It is to be noted that, Ravi Dahiya will give the World Championship a miss. The wrestler did not get enough time to prepare for the upcoming tournament.
The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) will conduct trials on Tuesday for the Worlds, set to be held in Oslo, Norway from October 2-10. Unfortunately, Dahiya did not get time to prepare for these trials.
Speaking to PTI, Ravi Dahiya said, “I don’t want to be on the mat unprepared. What’s the point in competing without enough practice? So I have to miss the World Championship because I don’t want to go to the trials without enough practice.”
Tokyo Olympic Bronze medalist, Bajrang Punia will also be missing out on the tournament owing to a ligament tear in his right knee.
The wrestling champion also suggested that he couldn’t say “no” to the multiple events he is called for. Although, he just gets tired. After having returned from the Tokyo Olympics he has not been able to spend enough time at home with his family. He is so busy that he only met his father at the airport after his Tokyo Olympics tournament.
Meanwhile, the WFI hasn’t yet decided on the selection of other wrestlers like Vinesh Phogat, Sonam Malik, and Divya Kakran after their respective issues.
