ICC Player of the Month: Joe Root
The ICC Player of the Month for August was announced. Joe Root makes it for Men’s category
The ICC Player of the Month has been announced. England captain Joe Root is the winner for the men’s category. After seeing a healthy competition from Jasprit Bumrah and Shaheen Afridi, the reward goes to Joe Root for his notable performance.
The ICC Player of the Month scored 507 runs in the three tests against India in August. What took him to the top was his interesting and unbeaten 180* at Lord’s. Other than that, he had three important centuries. As a result, he was decided as the winner by the ICC Voting Academy. Joe Root, the captain of the England team had a stellar performance in August. Even though the score against India is 2-1 in the ongoing test, his contribution has been interesting. Firstly, his contribution to the bat was magnificent. Secondly, his responsibilities as captain have seen improvement in the game. As a result, the team performed brilliantly under pressure.
“With the expectation and responsibility on his shoulders as the captain, I was impressed with how he led from the front with the bat, and become the number one ranked Test batter in the world,” said former South Africa all-rounder JP Duminy, one of the panelists in the ICC Voting Academy.
Congratulations to Joe Root and very well done!
