Ilia Topuria isn’t getting pulled into the noise around super fights, even when the name Conor McGregor comes up. The lightweight champion understands what a fight like that represents, but at this point in time, his focus is firmly on what’s in front of him rather than what could happen down the line.
Right now, Topuria is preparing for a major title defense against Justin Gaethje at the much-talked-about UFC White House event. It is the kind of fight that defines a champion’s run. Gaethje brings a reputation for relentless aggression and fight-ending power, while Topuria has been building momentum as one of the most well-rounded fighters in the division. This is the test that matters most for him in the present.
Conor McGregor talk continues in the background
When asked about a possible clash with Ilia Topuria, the response was calm and measured. He made it clear that Conor McGregor is not part of his immediate plans, but he did not shut the door completely. In his view, a fight like that only makes sense if circumstances change in a meaningful way.
Topuria suggested he would consider it “if this fight is offered” and only if McGregor shows he can still compete at the highest level. He acknowledged the Irish star’s global reach, describing him as “hugely famous,” but also pointed out that fame does not always match what is happening competitively inside the cage.
🚨 Ilia Topuria, Conor McGregor ile dövüşmeye sıcak baktığını açıkladı:

He was more direct when speaking about McGregor’s current standing, saying he is “done and dusted at this point.” At the same time, he added that he never likes to “close the door on opportunities like this,” leaving just enough room for the situation to evolve.
For now, the focus does not shift. The fight with Gaethje is what defines the moment, and if Topuria comes through it, the conversation around what comes next will naturally grow louder.
