The Third One-Day International (ODI) between India and Australia in Chennai was halted on Sunday when a stray dog barged onto the pitch, evading security authorities.

After winning the toss, Australia’s captain, Steve Smith, elected to bat against India at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. During the toss, India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, confirmed that the home team would play with the same lineup as before, while Smith revealed that David Warner and Ashton Agar would replace Cameron Green and Nathan Ellis in the playing Eleven.

Australia, who won the toss and chose to bat first, has been pushed back by three straight sixes from Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav. Australia has already lost seven wickets, so Rohit Sharma and his team will be hoping to keep them under 250 runs. Australia had made a strong start due to openers Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head.

Before Pandya promptly dismissed Head, Steve Smith, and Marsh to assist India in regaining control from Australia, the pair set up 68 runs for the opening wicket. David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne were both soon dismissed by Kuldeep after combining 40 runs for the fourth wicket. Marcus Stoinis was subsequently replaced by Axar Patel, who then let Kuldeep finish off Alex Carey.

The ground crew arrived soon and tried to get the animal from the field. One of the Indian players also attempted to evict the dog. The dog, on the other hand, made everyone work hard by running along the fence for a few more moments before leaving the field.
