IND vs BAN: India booked their entry into the Asia Cup 2025 final with a convincing 41-run victory against Bangladesh in the Super 4s encounter. Another fantastic innings by Abhishek Sharma and an authoritative spin attack led India not only to reach the final but also put an end to Sri Lanka’s campaign in the tournament.
IND vs BAN: India’s Batting – Quick Start, Abrupt Collapse
Power Play: Abhishek Sharma Takes the charge
Phase score: 72/0
Run rate: 12.00
4s/6s: 6/4
India’s innings in the IND vs BAN match started cautiously, scoring just 17 runs from the first three overs. But things changed soon after Abhishek Sharma got going. His 37-ball 75 helped India score 55 runs between overs 4 and 6, taking them to an aggressive 72/0 at the end of the PowerPlay.
Middle Overs: Bangladesh Fight Back
Phase score: 60/5
Run rate: 6.66
4s/6s: 2/3
Post PowerPlay, Bangladesh fought back aggressively. Gill got out in the 7th over, and then the rapid dismissal of Dube and Suryakumar Yadav. Abhishek Sharma reached his fifty off only 25 balls but was run-out in the 12th over. India lost five wickets in this period, and their momentum took a steep fall.
Death Overs: Finish Fails Short
Phase score: 36/1
Run rate: 7.20
4s/6s: 4/0
Although Hardik Pandya (38 off 25) made a late effort, India were unable to finish on a high. Tight overs from Nasum, Mustafizur, and Saifuddin meant that India were left with 168/6 in 20 overs a competitive but chaseable score.
Bangladesh’s Chase: Fall Short of Spin Pressure in IND vs BAN Match
Power Play: Strong Start, Early Wicket
Phase score: 44/1
Run rate: 7.33
4s/6s: 5/1
Bangladesh made a decent start with Saif Hassan and Parvez Hossain Emon showing early promises, but the Indian seamers, Bumrah and Hardik, bowled in tough lines which led to Bangladesh restricted to 44 in the PowerPlay, losing just one wicket.
Middle Overs: Spinners Tighten the Grip
Phase score: 64/4
Run rate: 7.11
4s/6s: 0/5
Axar Patel, Varun Chakaravarthy, and Kuldeep Yadav webbed the Bangladeshi batsmen. Wickets kept tumbling, like that of Towhid Hridoy and Shamim Hossain, while Saif Hassan battled solo. A fleeting flame in the 14th over wasn’t sufficient as pressure grew.
Death Overs: Collapse and Exit
Phase score: 19/5
Run rate: 4.22
4s/6s: 1/0
Expectations were short-lived for Bangladesh as the Indian bowlers shredded apart the lower order. A double blow by Kuldeep in the 17th over and a spectacular catch by Axar to dismiss Saif Hassan concluded the contest. Bangladesh were bowled out for 127 in 19.3 overs, which was 41 runs short.
India has guaranteed their place in the 2025 Asia Cup Final. Their next Super 4 game against Sri Lanka is effectively meaningless. Bangladesh, despite the loss, are still alive and will play Pakistan within 24 hours in a must-win match in what is a virtual semi-final for them to qualify for the final.
