Unseasonal rain was spoilsport in the IND vs BAN Women’s World Cup 2025 group-stage match at Navi Mumbai, postponing a washout when India seemed set to win. Even as the Indian bowlers particularly Radha Yadav dominated, the weather prevailed, shortening India’s chase before the match could even reach the 20-over stage.

Rain Interruptions Dominate the IND vs BAN Contest

It started under overcast skies, with rain holding off the toss by two hours and cutting down the match to 43 overs a side. Bangladesh’s innings was disrupted further when another bout of heavy showers lapped up in the 13th over saw the second delay lasting close to two hours.

Play resumed with the match reduced again to 27 overs per side. Bangladesh was limited to 119 for 9, setting India a modest target of 126. But India’s chase was disrupted by continuous rain, and the game was ultimately abandoned with India at 57 for 0 in nine overs.

Radha Yadav Paces the Bowling Attack

Facing her first outing of the tournament, Radha Yadav was India’s top performer. The left-arm spinner delivered a master class, picking up 3 wickets for 30 runs, as Shree Charani complemented well with 2 for 23.

Together, they tore through Bangladesh middle order, keeping them to a sub-par score. Bangladesh were reduced to just four batters in double figures as they folded from 91 for 3 to 117 for 9.

Key Moments: IND vs BAN Bowling Highlights

Renuka Singh picked up early with an impeccable inswinging yorker that shook Sumaiya Akter. Deepti Sharma added to the wicket tally in the 10th over, dismissing Rubya Haider with a nice change of angle.

Radha Yadav’s good line and variation produced more breakthroughs, including the important wickets of Sobhana Mostary (26 off 21) and Nahida Akter. A quick throw from Radha at point also led to a crucial run-out, showing her all-round excellence.

Pratika Rawal’s Injury is an Added Worry for India

India’s sole disappointment from the IND vs BAN game was when Pratika Rawal, India’s high-scoring opener, hurt her knee and ankle while fielding. It happened in the 21st over, when she sprained her ankle while attempting to cut off a boundary.

Rawal, India’s second-highest run-scorer in the tournament, didn’t start India’s innings. She was replaced at the top by Amanjot Kaur along with Smriti Mandhana. As per the BCCI Medical Team, Rawal is under observation before India’s semi-final match against Australia.

India’s Confident Start to the Chase

Even as Rawal was not present, India started the chase positively. Smriti Mandhana was in sublime form, charging to 23 from 15 deliveries, as Amanjot Kaur was her steady support. The two piled up 57 runs from nine overs and kept India slightly ahead of the DLS par score before the rain came back.

Both the batters survived dropped opportunities off Nahida Akter and Rabeya Khan, indicating that Bangladesh’s fielding issues persisted. Alas, when India looked all set for an easy win, the drizzle got heavier and play had to be abandoned at 10:20 PM local time.

Bangladesh’s Struggles Continue Despite a Point

For Bangladesh, consolation was provided by the washout a common factor with which they were able to overhaul Pakistan in the points table based on net run rate. Their batting weaknesses and failure to cope with India’s spin attack reaffirmed underlying issues, though.

India’s Attention Turns to the Semi-Final Against Australia

The IND vs BAN washout didn’t influence India’s position they are still fourth in the points table and will now play Australia in the second semi-final on Thursday at Navi Mumbai.

Everyone’s eyes will be on Radha Yadav’s performance and Pratika Rawal’s comeback, as India look to carry their World Cup form into the knockout round.
