4 Min Read

IND vs SA: India’s formidable batting lineup maintained its scintillating form before the T20 World Cup 2026, securing a comprehensive 30-run win over South Africa in the IND vs SA, T20 World Cup 2026 Warm-Up match played at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Though the South African batsmen got a late start, India’s enormous score was simply too much to handle.

Ishan Kishan Sets the Tone With a Blistering Start

Choosing to bat first on a wicket that had earlier been conducive to chasing in the WPL 2026, India started off with the intent of causing a storm, led by the aggressive Ishan Kishan.

Kishan smashed his way to a 20-ball 53, including a brutal fifth over against Anrich Nortje, which consisted of sixes and fours in the following order: 6, 6, 4, 6. He retired out soon after, having taken India to a strong 83/1 in the powerplay.

Tilak Varma, SKY and Pandya Keep the Momentum Rolling

Tilak Varma, who had just played in a warm-up match for India A at the same venue, was in great form. He scored 45 off just 19 balls. Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya then went on to display their range of shots in the middle and death overs, as India reached a mammoth total of 240/5. This is one of their highest totals in recent T20 matches.

South African Bowlers Struggle Under Relentless Pressure

The best fast bowlers of South Africa had a very tough night. Anrich Nortje gave away 57 runs in 3 overs, which has been a tough time in his comeback and Kagiso Rabada gave away 44 runs in 3 overs. The relentless intent of India left the South African bowlers with no chance to recover.

South Africa’s Top Order Shows Intent in the Chase

South Africa, while chasing 241, started well. Aiden Markram and Ryan Rickelton accumulated 65 runs in just five overs in the powerplay.

Markram: 38 off 19 balls (four sixes)

Rickelton: 44 off 21 balls batting at No. 3

But frequent wickets hindered their progress, and by the 11th over, South Africa had lost half of their team.

Late Hitting Reduces Margin, But Target Proves Too Steep

Jason Smith, Tristan Stubbs, and Marco Jansen gave South Africa some hope with their aggressive stroke play. They made the most of some costly overs from Shivam Dube towards the end, which cost 22 and 20 runs respectively, narrowing down the gap of defeat. However, the rate of required runs was always out of South Africa’s reach, and they fell 30 runs short.
