Ravindra Jadeja added another big achievement to his already impressive career on Day 4 of the second Test against the West Indies. With the crucial wicket of John Campbell, Ravindra Jadeja became the third-highest wicket-taker for India on home soil, moving past former star Harbhajan Singh.

Even after the retirement of some of India’s most experienced players, the team has continued to shine in Test cricket, especially since the England series. While it’s been a team effort all along, one name that consistently stands out is Ravindra Jadeja. Whether it’s with the bat or ball, the all-rounder has been India’s go-to player in tough moments.

Ravindra Jadeja’s All-Round Brilliance Continues

Ravindra Jadeja was in excellent form during the England series, where he scored over 500 runs with the best average in the series and also picked up seven wickets. Time and again, when the young Indian side found itself in trouble, it was Ravindra Jadeja who stepped up and delivered.

Ravindra Jadeja continued that momentum in the West Indies series. During the second Test, he dismissed John Campbell for 115, breaking a massive 177-run stand between Campbell and Shai Hope. That wicket didn’t just help India at a crucial point; it also helped Jadeja surpass Harbhajan Singh to become India’s third-highest wicket-taker at home in international cricket.

Harbhajan had 376 wickets on home turf. Ravindra Jadeja now has 377* and joins the elite list alongside Ravichandran Ashwin (475) and Anil Kumble (476) at the top.

A Strong Series for Jadeja at 36

Despite being 36, Ravindra Jadeja seems to be in the form of his life and looks nowhere close to slowing down in Test cricket. He began the West Indies series with a brilliant century in the first Test at Ahmedabad and followed it up with four wickets in the second innings.

In the second Test, he picked up three wickets in the first innings and then took the big wicket of John Campbell in the second. That brought his total to eight wickets in the series so far, making him the third-highest wicket-taker behind Kuldeep Yadav (12) and Mohammed Siraj (10).

West Indies Take a Surprise Lead After Follow-On

For the first time in the series, the West Indies managed to take a lead over India, thanks to a strong second-innings performance. After being asked to follow up, they came back fighting.

John Campbell and Shai Hope led the charge with centuries and looked completely in control until their partnership was broken. Campbell’s dismissal opened the door for India, but Hope soon reached his hundred as well, showing great composure.

Skipper Roston Chase also chipped in with a handy 40 before falling to Kuldeep Yadav. Towards the end, Justin Greaves and Jayden Seales added valuable runs with an unbeaten partnership for the final wicket, giving West Indies a lead and something to cheer about.

At tea on Day 4, the visitors were ahead by 91 runs, with Greaves batting on 35* and Seales holding strong on 18*. They’ve managed to regain some pride with a spirited fightback after following on.
