The India National Cricket Team’s squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy includes three uncapped players: Abhimanyu Easwaran, Harshit Rana, and Nitish Kumar Reddy.

Notable omissions from the Test squad are Mohammed Shami, Kuldeep Yadav, and Axar Patel. Shami is currently recovering from an injury, while Kuldeep Yadav is sidelined due to a groin issue. Additionally, star all-rounder Axar Patel has been dropped from the team.

Kuldeep Yadav was unavailable for selection for the tour of Australia since he has been referred to The BCCI Centre of Excellence after the end of the ongoing Test series against New Zealand for long-term resolution of his chronic left groin issue,” the BCCI said in an official media release.

Major Talking Points Of India’s Squad For BGT 2024-25 Squad:

The absence of senior pacer Mohammed Shami, out since the ODI World Cup 2023, is a significant loss for India, as he has been a key player in overseas Tests. While there were hopes he might return for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, his selection now looks doubtful with Harshit Rana and Prasidh Krishna in the squad.

Pace-bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur is also out, replaced by Nitish Reddy, and Abhimanyu Easwaran is chosen as a backup opener, leaving Ruturaj Gaikwad out.

The first Test starts on November 22 in Perth, followed by matches on December 6, 14, 26, and January 3 in various Australian cities.

Currently, the Indian team is struggling against New Zealand, with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli needing to regain form to secure a hat-trick of Test wins in Australia.
