The upcoming ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup will be the 13th edition of the tournament, and this time it will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. For India, this is the fourth time hosting the prestigious event, while Sri Lanka will be hosting it for the very first time.
The tournament kicks off on September 30 and runs until November 2, with matches spread across five cities: Bengaluru, Vizag, Indore, Guwahati, and Colombo. However, there is some uncertainty around the matches scheduled at Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium after the tragic stampede that followed RCB’s IPL 2025 title win.
As for Team India, they will be looking to finally break their World Cup drought and lift the trophy for the first time. Their form heading into the competition has been impressive. Since the start of 2025, the Women in Blue have won 9 out of 11 ODIs, which makes them one of the top favorites. Most recently, they sealed a memorable 2-1 series victory over England in their own backyard.
The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side looks strong on paper. Alongside Smriti Mandhana, the batting lineup features Pratika Rawal, Harleen Deol, and Jemimah Rodrigues.
Richa Ghosh will take charge as the first-choice wicketkeeper. In the bowling department, Deepti Sharma stands out not just for her spin but also for her handy batting contributions. She will be supported by Sneh Rana, Arundhati Reddy, and Renuka Singh Thakur, giving the team a good mix of experience and variety.
