Paris Olympics 2024: 3 Indian Race Walkers Dropped

While many sports stars from India have already booked their berth for Paris Olympics 2024, a big setback has stricken three Indian race walkers, who have been dropped from the Olympic bus.

The Paris Olympics 2024 is set to begin from July 26 and the sporting world is gearing for it. India, too, is looking forward to upgrading its medal tally in the sporting extravaganza.

While many sports stars from India have already booked their berth for Paris Olympics 2024, a big setback has stricken three Indian race walkers, who have been dropped from the Olympic bus.

Servin Sebastian

Servin Sebastian who met the qualifying standard for Paris Olympics 2024 has been dropped from the list after his timing was revised.

3 Indian race walkers dropped from Paris Olympics 2024

Servin bagged a bronze medal at the Indian Race Walking Competition in January. He clocked 1:20:03 to qualify for the Paris event where the standard is set as 1:20:10 for participation.

However, due to faulty readings at the Indian Open Race Walking Competition, his timing was revised to 1:20:30, which meant he would miss the Paris bus.

3 Indian race walkers dropped from Paris Olympics 2024
At the Indian Open Race Walking Competition, Arshpreet Singh clocked 1:20:04 to confirm his berth at the Paris Olympics 2024. However, his initial timing was revised to 1:21:04, dashing his chances of taking part in the summer event in Paris.

3 Indian race walkers dropped from Paris Olympics 2024

Suraj Panwar became third Indian race walker to lose his Olympics qualifying mark after Servin Sebastian and Arshpreet Singh in the 20 kms race walking competition.

At the Indian Open Race Walking Competition held earlier this year, Panwar won the silver medal by clocking a timing of 1:19:44. However, the timing was ruled invalid by World Athletics due to faulty readings.

All the results in the 20km event at the Indian Open Race Walking Competition, including men and women, have been ruled invalid by the World Athletics.

However, it’s not the end for the three Indian race walkers. They can still be a part of the contention before the June 30 deadline for qualifying. They will have to rush and clock below 1:20:10 at an event to make it to the Paris show.
