IPL 2021: Chennai Super Kings reminiscing the best ever innings of Dwayne Bravo

Ever since arriving at the Chennai Super Kings franchise in 2011, Dwayne Bravo has had an almost-unmatched impact on the side. The all-rounder is considered to be one of the greatest of all time in the format, Bravo, at CSK, has taken over 10 wickets in six different seasons, won the purple cap in 2013, and has also been a part of two title-winning teams.

But despite having weaved his magic with the ball, Bravo’s most memorable performance for the franchise came with the bat, in 2018, when he helped MS Dhoni’s Yellow Army win their first game post the club’s two-year ban. With CSK 118-8 chasing 166 against defending champions Mumbai Indians, Bravo, against all odds, scored an extraordinary 30-ball 68 to help his side to what turned out to be the first win of a title-winning campaign.

Chennai Super Kings termed Dwayne Bravo 30-ball 68 innings against Mumbai Indians as the “best-ever” innings of this West Indies allrounder.

In the opening match of the eleventh season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), CSK defeated Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians in a thriller finish.

Coming back from a two-year ban, CSK rode on Bravo’s blitzkrieg to chase down a target of 166 with a wicket and a ball to spare after staring at defeat with 118 for eight in the 17th over on Saturday evening.
Bravo hammered seven sixes and three fours to score 68 in CSK’s stunning chase of 165 in the opening match of the season at the Wankhede Stadium, helping the MS Dhoni-led side to a successful comeback after a two-year suspension.

“Best ever. I don’t think I have ever played an innings like this in any format. So this is a special one. As you can see, when I reached fifty, I didn’t even raise my bat. I knew the job wasn’t finished, there was still a long way to go. I was in a zone. I was just focusing on trying to get the game done for my team,” Bravo said after he was adjudged the Man of the Match.

Meanwhile, CSK is set to play their first match against Delhi Capitals on the 10th of April at Wankhede stadium in Mumbai.
