The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team, which performed well as an organized unit after losing the first match, will start in the IPL as a strong contender for victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday. Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led team made a great comeback after losing the first match. He has won four matches in a row, and now he will be expected to continue the victory campaign at the new venue Arun Jaitley Stadium.
The 2020 season did not go well for the three subsequent champions Chennai but this time the experienced players of the team have joined them, who are leaving their impact. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja played a key role in CSK’s win. Jadeja scored 37 runs in the last over against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday to single-handedly win the team, he also took wickets with his right-handed bowling and showed his brilliance in fielding as well.
Openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf Du Plessis are in good form while Suresh Raina and Ambati Rayudu need big innings. CSK batsmen will be aware of Rashid Khan’s challenge, but the rest of the Sunrisers bowlers are unable to play, which is his weak side. Sunrisers are heavily dependent on their overseas players captain David Warner, opener Johnny Bairstow, New Zealand giants Kane Williamson and Rashid. The poor performance of the Indian players in his team is a matter of concern for him.
Sunrisers batting is very much dependent on the top order and the weakness of the team comes to the fore if the top batsmen are not able to run. There are Indian players in the middle order who are unable to walk and if the Sunrisers are to move forward then their team management will have to overcome this weakness soon. Warner will also have to recover from poor form as soon as possible. He will have to play in front of CSK fast bowler Deepak Chahar who specializes in getting wickets initially.
Apart from Chahar, Jadeja, veteran Imran Tahir and Sam Karan are also bowling well for CSK. Bowling is a matter of concern for the Sunrisers. He is dependent on Rashid in this department, but the opposition team can score good runs in the remaining 16 overs. Veteran Bhuvneshwar Kumar has not been able to perform consistently, while Yorker specialist T Natarajan has suffered a setback due to his withdrawal due to injury.
