Nothing has gone in the favour of Hyderabad franchisee, Sunrisers Hyderabad in this season of IPL 2021, and now once a speculation has turned into a reality as Kane Williamson has been appointed as the new captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad. He’ll be taking Captains responsibilities from David Warner, who has been the SRH captain since very long and also led SRH to their only IPL title in 2016’s season.

In an official statement over on Twitter, Sunrisers Hyderabad announced this change in captainship for the side.

This isn’t the first time Kane Williamson will captain the Hyderabad franchise. In the 2018 edition of IPL, he captained the side, due to David Warner’s 1 year long cricket ban. He led the side to the finals of the tournament, in which they unfortunately lost to CSK, which returned to the tournament after a ban of 2 seasons, alongside another team, Rajasthan Royals. Sunrisers Hyderabad was the runner-up for the IPL 2018 season and Kane Williamson’s led the side firmly.

The Kiwi stalwart, Kane Williamson didn’t only showed his class with his strategies, but was ecstatic with the bat. He captained 17 games for SRH in that season and scored mammoth 735 runs with an average of 52. He also scored half century in 8 different occasion and single-handedly excelled for SRH.

This change of mid-season captain was inevitable as David Warner wasn’t able to bring out his A-game for the SRH side, both as captain and as a crucial opening batsman. It will be indeed an opportunity to see, whether this change in captaincy works in SRH’s favour or not, as everything lies in the womb of deed at the moment.
