Delhi Capitals have included Mumbai all-rounder Shams Mulani in the squad for a short period in place of Akshar Patel. Who was found to be corona infected during their pre-season quarantine? As per IPL rules, unless a player is fully recovered, other players can be added to the team for a shorter period of time. This simply means that until Akshar Patel is fully recovered, Mulani will remain a part of the team.

As per the rules, Akshar Patel comes back fit, even then Mulani cannot be part of any other team in this season of IPL. Delhi has signed Karnataka right-handed middle-order batsman Aniruddha Joshi to replace their original captain Shreyas Iyer. Iyer was ruled out of the tournament after suffering an injury during the first ODI of the recently concluded India-England series.

24-year-old Mulani is a similar replacement for the role of the left-handed orthodox spinner and a tough left-handed batsman Akshar. However, he has been with Mumbai’s home team for a few years. He has played 10 first-class matches, 30 List A games, and 25 T20s but this will be his first contract in the IPL.

On the other hand, when it comes to Aniruddha Joshi, it will be his third contract in the IPL. Earlier, he was also a part of the team of Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals in this prestigious tournament.

Delhi Capitals are playing this time under the captaincy of young captain Rishabh Pant. There are also a few senior players in the team. Then it is interesting to see that where the team reaches this time.
