IPL 2021: Jos Buttler picks his all time IPL XI
Buttler largely included tried and tested veterans of IPL along with teacher-student duo of Lasith Malinga and Jasprit Bumrah
England and Rajasthan Royals batsman Jos Buttler picked his all-time IPL XI in the wake of suspended Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. In conversation with Cricbuzz, Jos Butler was thrown a wide range of questions that were answered with utmost honesty. Man of little words, Butler was asked to compile his dream all-time XI for IPL.
A task was assigned to him under a condition where he had to pick himself in the eleven, with seven Indians and a maximum of four overseas players. Needless to say, it’s a norm for every IPL team, every match.
Jos Buttler was in excellent form before IPL came to an abrupt end due to surging COVID-19 cases in India. Butler scored a total of 254 runs in seven innings, including a century (124) in the 2021 edition of IPL while in 2020, Butler amassed 328 in 13 innings.
Jos Buttler picked himself along with his favorite player Rohit Sharma as an opener. In the middle order, he had a star-studded lineup of Virat Kohli at three, AB de Villiers at four, MS Dhoni in at five as a wicketkeeper.
The all-rounder’s slots were covered by Kieron Pollard, for his longevity for Mumbai Indians, in at six followed by Ravindra Jadeja at seven, adding a fine balance to the side.
For bowlers, he went for spinning stalwart Harbhajan Singh, at eight, Bhuvneshwar Kumar at nine. Sri Lankan smiling assassin Lasith Malinga and his apprentice Jasprit Bumrah completed the eleven.
Buttler said it a hard task to compile an eleven with so many missing out. He said one can pick three-four elevens if he wants. Notable omissions were David Warner, Suresh Raina, Chris Gayle, Ben Stokes. Captain of the side wasn’t disclosed.
Here’s Jos Buttler’s all-time IPL XI: Jos Buttler, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, MS Dhoni (WK), Kieron Pollard, Ravindra Jadeja, Harbhajan Singh, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Lasith Malinga.
