The Indian Premier League of 2021 is set to resume on 19th September 2021. Unfortunately, it was postponed during May due to the COVID-19 scare that forced the tournament to be postponed.

With the Indian Premier League set to return in the coming month, Delhi Capitals team management was to decide on the team captain after Shreyas Iyer was declared fit to play. He will be available to join the squad after he fully recovered from his injury.

Due to his injury, the stand-in captain to lead the first phase of the Indian Premier League was Rishabh Pant. He took on the responsibility very well and the team had performed impressively under his leadership.

It is also likely that post-Shreyas Iyer’s return, Rishabh Pant will continue as captain of the Delhi Capitals team.

Sources confirm that “While it is great news that Shreyas Iyer is fit again and ready to get back to action, it is understood that the DC management wants to give him more time to recover. As a result, Pant will continue as captain, but only for the second half of IPL 2021,”

It will be interesting to see how the Delhi Capitals perform in the remainder of the Indian Premier League.

The team is set to go against the Sunrisers Hyderabad on 22nd September live from the Dubai International Stadium.
