IPL 2021: Royal Challengers Bangalore to wear Blue Jersey against Kolkata Knight Riders on 20th September, know the reason behind it
The Royal Challengers Bangalore fans will see their favourite team sporting a new colour in their opening match of the 2nd phase of IPL 2021.
Jerseys are so much more important than they appear to be. Rather just than being a team uniform/clothing, it connects the team by instilling unity and also creates a deep connection with fans. Royal Challengers Bangalore have been known to be supporting great and meaningful initiatives by featuring them on their Jerseys.
As announced in May earlier this year, RCB will be donning a special Blue Jersey in one of their upcoming matches. As a way to honor the frontline warriors for their selfless service to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a result, in the match against the Kolkata Knight Riders on 20th September, Monday, Virat Kohli and Co. will be sported with the Blue Jersey instead of their #GoGreen initiative jersey.
Blue Jersey will have key messages on the back – to show solidarity and support to the frontline workers.
In the video, AB de Villiers has said, “Over the years you have seen us wear a green jersey for a special environmental cause. But this year, we will be sporting blue jerseys, matching the color of the PPE kits that the frontline warriors have been wearing throughout the pandemic.”
Meanwhile, their Green Jersey represents the #GoGreen initiative, which they adopted in 2011 to spread awareness about environment conservation and planting trees. The official social media account of Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2019 mentioned that the team wear green jerseys made of recycled plastic – their way to help to save the planet.
Royal Challengers Bangalore are in 3rd position with 10 points as they have won 5 matches out of 7. To start their 2nd leg of IPL 2021 against KKR while sporting special Blue Jersey at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
