IPL 2021: The leading purple and orange cap players
Shikhar Dhawan (Delhi Capitals) and Harshal Patel from (Royal Challengers Bangalore) were the leading players for orange and purple cap respectively.
Indian Premier League (IPL) has always been popular for its orange and purple cap where the orange one is received by the leading run-scorer and the purple one for the leading wicket-taker.
Well in this year’s IPL which was unfortunately cut short due to some unexpected COVID-19 cases and bio bubble breach also had a tough fight for both the caps. Shikhar Dhawan (Delhi Capitals) and Harshal Patel (Royal Challengers Bangalore) were the leading players for orange and purple caps respectively. Both of the players were going through a fine form in their respective departments but that didn’t mean that they were in the most favorable condition to win the caps.
Shikhar Dhawan who was at the top with 380 runs was closely followed by KL Rahul who was at 331 runs and the other batsmen including Faf Du Plessis and Shikhar’s opening partner Prithvi Shaw had more than 300 runs.
Similarly in the race for purple cap, Harshal was standing on the top with 17 wickets but then he was also closely followed by Capitals’ Avesh Khan and Chris Morris who had 14 wickets each.
What makes the matter more interesting is that the leading players were in a pretty comfortable position since the very beginning but the last 5 matches saw drastic lifts in the stats of the other players which would have made the leaders lose their position pretty soon but unfortunately the tournament couldn’t carry on for much longer.
