KKR star batsmen performed extremely well under pressure against CSK.

In the crucial match where KKR was chasing a humongous total of 221 runs in 20 overs, KKR’s opening batsmen failed miserably to deliver for the team.

Shubham Gill was dismissed in the very first over by Chahar, followed by Nitish Rana at just 17 runs who were then followed by Eoin Morgan and Sunil Naraine, all these batsmen failed to deliver for the team when they wanted them to perform well.

KKR’s bowling didn’t work against Chennai at all, so the only way KKR could hope for a win was with good batting but KKR’s opening batsmen disappointed everyone as they returned to the stands as fast as they went to the crease.

But KKR’s lower middle order, consisting of star batsmen like  Andre Russel, Dinesh Karthik, and Pat Cummins stepped up to the occasion, as they played stellar innings hinting at a comeback against Chennai.

Russel and Karthik’s 75 run partnership where Russel scored a half-century with just 21 balls reminded everyone of how dangerous he can be with the bat, Karthik supported Russel effectively as he scored 40 runs even after Russell’s dismissal.

Russel scored 54 runs from 22 balls, with 3 boundaries band 6 massive sixers combining for a strike rate of 245.45, Russell’s extremely dangerous and quick batting pushed CSK to the edge as his partnership with Karthik accumulated 75 runs for the team after a sloppy batting start. Russell’s explosive batting, put Chennai bowler on the back foot as they struggled to dismiss him, but Sam Curran dismissed with a ball straight into the pads.

After Russel Dinesh Karthik battled it out at the crease with Pat Cummins.

Pat Cummins played yet another destructive innings for KKR as he scored his 50 runs in just 23 balls. Cummins trashed Sam Curran for 39 runs in the 16th over with three back-to-back sixers, the period seemed to be a real comeback for KKR in the match as Pat Cummins went on hitting big for KKR, with Cummins impressive batting coupled with Russel and Karthik, KKR became the only team in the history of IPL to have scored so many runs after the fall of their 5th wicket.

Pat Cummins scored 65 runs in 34 balls with 4 boundaries and 6 massive sixers combining for a strike rate of 194.12.
