In the 25th match of IPL 2021, Delhi Capitals registered a convincing win by defeating Kolkata Knight Riders by 7 wickets. KKR’s 154 runs was achieved by Delhi, losing 3 wickets in 16 overs and 3 balls and scoring 156 runs. For Delhi, Prithvi Shaw scored 82 runs in 41 balls. After batting first, KKR’s team scored 154 runs losing 6 wickets in T20 overs. Gill scored 43 and Russell scored an unbeaten 45 from KKR. Here are the three reasons why Kolkata Knight Riders lost against Delhi Capitals:

1. Lack of consistency in batting:

KKR opening batsman Nitish Rana and Shubman Gill still struggling to score more than seven runs per over in the powerplay. Middle order of KKR also struggling to score runs in this season of Indian Premier League. KKR captain Eoin Morgan is also searching his form and Rahul Tripathi is also not performing consistently in this season.

2. Bad form of Sunil Narine:

Narine came to bat at no. 5 against the 2020 season’s runners-up Delhi Capitals. Kolkata was in trouble and had lost quick 3 wickets. 24-year old Lalit Yadav bowled out Narine and showed him the way to the pavilion. It was the second duck for him this season and the first golden duck. Narine was sent ahead of Dinesh Kartik and Andre Russell who are more reliable middle-order batsmen. But Sunil failed to show his batting skills yet again. Sunil has now scored only 10 runs in 4 matches in this season. On all four occasions, he was sent off and came to bat either at no.4 or at no.5. After four consecutive failures with the bat, KKR will be surely looking to strengthen their middle order as they cannot rely on Narine for long if they want to qualify for the playoffs.

3. Rotation of bowlers lacked clarity:

Pat Cummins, the main pacer of KKR comes in the last over of powerplay to start his spell in the match against Delhi Capitals. There were several blunders made in this game by the skipper and team management of KKR. In order to get back to the winning track, some clarity is must in the batting order and bowling rotations.
