Opener Ruturaj Gaikwad found his flare today as he played a stellar inning alongside the veteran smasher Faf du Plessis, the duo scored a whopping 115 runs in 12 overs, punishing Kolkata’s bowlers mercilessly, Gaikwad was on “Go big or Go home” mood today as he trashed Kolkata for 6 boundaries band 4 sixers in his 64 run innings before getting dismissed by Varun Chakravarty.

Varun Chakravarty has been impressive since the beginning of the season for Kolkata Knight Riders, the bowler has been consistently taking wickets in the bowling end and is arguably the best bowler for Kolkata so far in the season, he showed his masterclass bowling yet again today as he dismissed Gaikwad to end a dangerous partnership that brewed between Gaikwad and du Plessis which trashes Kolkata non-stop for 12 overs and 115 runs.

Varun Chakravarty yet again used his bowling skill to bowl a flighted delivery to Gaikwad in the middle, aggressive Gaikwad tried to play the slog sweep but failed to cover the distance to get the ball past deep mid-wicket where fielder Pat Cumins took the catch carefully without making any mistake.

Gaikwad’s dismissal was much needed for Kolkata as the duo quickly gained momentum and went on a scoring spree, with Varun’s opening 8t now comes down to other bowlers to restrict Chennai from scoring big in order to get a win today.
