IPL 2021: Virat Kohli to play his 200th game for RCB today
RCB skipper Virat Kohli will sport an iconic blue RCB jersey to pay respect and show solidarity to all the front-line heroes who have led the fight against coronavirus pandemic.
When RCB skipper goes out for the toss, today against KKR, it will be history in the making. Virat Kohli will be playing his 200th IPL match today. In the process, he will be the first player in IPL history to play 200 matches for the same franchise.
Elite Club
Kohli will be the fifth player to play for 200 matches in IPL. This elite list of five players consists of MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, Dinesh Karthik, and Suresh Raina.
Individual Records
Kohli made his RCB debut in 2008 and since then has been a very important player for them, year after year. He has scored the most number of runs in IPL (6076) in his 199 innings, followed by Shikhar Dhawan (5577) at second position and Suresh Raina (5491) at third.
Kohli first captained RCB in 2012 as stand-in captain in absence of Daniel Vettori but was given the full-time captaincy in 2013. 2016 was the most successful year for the batting maestro amassing 973 runs at an average of 81.08 at a healthy strike rate of 152.03 with four centuries and seven half centuries, the highest score being 113 in 16 innings.
Kohli has played the most number of matches (199) for RCB, the second highest being AB de Villiers (148) and the third being Yuzvendra Chahal (105).
2021 Edition
As of 2021, Virat Kohli has scored 198 runs in seven innings with 72* as the highest score in this edition of IPL.

RCB skipper Virat Kohli will sport an iconic blue jersey to pay respect and show solidarity to all the front-line heroes who have led the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. “RCB has identified key areas where much-needed help is required immediately in healthcare infrastructure related to Oxygen support in Bangalore and other cities and will be making a financial contribution towards this,” said Kohli in a video posted on RCB’s Twitter.
At the moment RCB is in the third position on the points table with ten points and KKR is seventh with four points.
