IPL 2025: Arun Dhumal Confirms No Postponement Amid India-Pakistan Conflict

With rising tension between India and Pakistan, the future of IPL 2025 is now uncertain. However, the match between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru is still expected to go ahead as planned.
IPL 2025 Match Called Off Due to Security Concerns
There are reports that the tournament could be postponed after the Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals game was called off on Thursday (May 8) for security reasons. The match was stopped during the 11th over of Punjab’s innings, with players leaving the field and fans being asked to leave the stadium.
“Yes, the match has been called off as a precautionary step, because there are some incidents which happened in Jammu, I believe,” said IPL chairman Arun Dhumal.
Right after the Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals match was stopped, the IPL Governing Council held an emergency meeting. Media reports suggested that some teams were panicking, and the tournament might be postponed.
Arun Dhumal Confirms No Postponement Decision Yet
However, IPL chairman Arun Dhumal confirmed that no final decision has been made about postponing IPL 2025. He also said the BCCI hasn’t received any instructions from the government yet.
“We are reviewing the situation right now. It is an evolving situation. We haven’t received any directive from the government. Obviously the decision will be taken keeping all the logistics in mind,” Dhumal told PTI.
Dhumal also confirmed that the match between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru is still set to happen on Friday (May 9) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. But he noted that plans could still change depending on how the situation develops.
“Yes it is on as of now but obviously it is an evolving situation and any decision will be taken keeping the best interest of all stakeholders in mind,” said Dhumal.
Meanwhile, the players of Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals will be moved out of Dharamsala using a special train. The teams, along with their families and support staff, will travel by road to Pathankot, where they’ll board the train to Delhi.
This arrangement was made because the Dharamsala airport and nearby airports have been closed as a safety precaution.
