IPL 2025: Bhuvneshwar Kumar Shares His First Statement As RCB Player
Veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar shared his excitement about returning to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for the IPL 2025 season. He mentioned that he wasn’t sure if RCB would bid for him in the auction.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s Excitement About Returning to RCB
Bhuvneshwar Kumar was bought by RCB for a massive ₹10.75 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction. The medium-fast bowler will make a comeback to the franchise, having previously played for them in 2009 and 2010. He has also played for SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) and the now-defunct Pune Warriors India.
In a video shared by RCB on their X social media account, Bhuvneshwar Kumar mentioned that he got messages from the director and coach after being bought in the auction. He said the management has focused on all aspects of the bowling attack, including experience, skill, pace, and bounce.
“Honestly, it feels great to be back in RCB. It’s not new for me in terms of the environment because I know most of the guys. But of course, there are new guys, I’ll meet them. We’ll have a chat and we’ll play alongside for three months now,” Bhuvneshwar said.
“I had no idea whether RCB would go for me or not. Because the auction is a different dynamic. You don’t know what’s going to happen. But yes, when they picked me, I got a message from the director, the coach, and everyone else,” he added.
“I spoke to them. I’m really looking forward to this IPL. If you look at the bowling attack, I think RCB management has covered all the bases. Experience, skill-wise, pace, bounce, whatever that is. I think they’ve covered all the bases.”

Reflects on RCB’s Strategy and Team Dynamics
Bhuvneshwar Kumar praised Royal Challengers Bangalore for their strong comeback last year, highlighting how their performance in the second half of the season was impressive and different. He also mentioned that he admired how their approach could be adapted.
“Last year, RCB played the first half and the second half. It was different. The way they were playing the second half, you always feel good looking at the team. Not from an opposition point of view. But as a cricketer or a guy who loves cricket, you always admire those things. You always want to adapt to those things. How they came back,” Kumar stated.
A Look at His Wickets and Past Performances
Bhuvneshwar Kumar is one of the top wicket-takers in the Indian Premier League, with 181 wickets in 176 matches at an economy rate of 7.56. His performance last season was mixed.
The 34-year-old took 11 wickets in 16 matches, with an average of over 48 and an economy rate of 9.35 for Sunrisers Hyderabad, who finished as runners-up. He had been with SRH for more than a decade and was part of their 2016 title-winning squad.
