KL Rahul Shines as Opener for Delhi Capitals

KL Rahul, usually batting in the middle order, opened the innings in IPL 2025 and delivered a brilliant performance. After a slow start, he found his rhythm and played a classy knock, hitting powerful shots all around the ground. He reached his fifty in 35 balls and continued to accelerate, scoring a century in just 60 balls. Rahul stayed unbeaten, guiding Delhi Capitals to a big total and keeping the pressure off his teammates.

KL Rahul scored an unbeaten 112 off 65 balls, hitting 14 fours and 4 sixes at a strike rate of over 172. It was his first century for Delhi Capitals and made him the first player to score IPL hundreds for three different teams.

His knock helped Delhi post a strong total of 199, with support from Abishek Porel (30), Axar Patel (25), and Tristan Stubbs (21\*).

Delhi Capitals (DC) batter KL Rahul has reached a major milestone in T20 cricket. He surpassed Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star Virat Kohli to become the fastest Indian to score 8000 runs in the shortest format of the game.

KL Rahul crossed 8000 runs in T20 cricket during his innings, reaching the milestone in his 224th innings and 237th match. He broke Virat Kohli’s record, who took 243 innings to get there.

Rahul is now the third-fastest to 8000 T20 runs, behind Chris Gayle (213 innings) and Babar Azam (218). Mohammad Rizwan is also among the quickest.
