ipl 2025: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) had another tough game in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, making their path to the playoffs much harder. Their chances took a big blow after they lost to Punjab Kings (PBKS).
LSG lost by 37 runs to PBKS in the 54th match of the IPL 2025. The match was held at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala on Sunday, May 4th.
Punjab Kings won by 37 runs against Lucknow Super Giants in the 54th match of IPL 2025. Batting first, Punjab got off to a shaky start with Priyansh Arya getting out early. However, Prabhsimran Singh (91) took charge and added crucial runs, supported by Josh Inglis (30) in a 48-run partnership.
Skipper Shreyas Iyer (45) joined the effort, and together with Prabhsimran, they put on 78 runs to set a strong total. Shashank Singh (33\*) finished things off, helping Punjab reach 236/5.
In reply, Lucknow Super Giants struggled early, with Arshdeep Singh taking three quick wickets. They were soon 73/5. Ayush Badoni (74) and Abdul Samad (45) tried to fight back with an 81-run partnership, but after Samad’s dismissal, Badoni couldn’t finish the chase. Lucknow ended up at 199/7, handing Punjab a 37-run win.
Lucknow Super Giants suffered their 6th loss in IPL 2025 against Punjab, dropping to 7th place on the points table with 5 wins and 6 losses. They now have 10 points from 11 games.
With only three games left, Lucknow needs to win all of them to reach 16 points and stay in playoff contention. If they win two, their chances will depend on net run rate (NRR) and the results of other teams. Even with 14 points, they may not guarantee a spot in the playoffs.
