This change follows Operation Sindoor, a military action launched after a deadly shooting on April 22 in Pahalgam, which killed 26 civilians. As a result, flights to and from Dharamsala and other cities were temporarily suspended due to security concerns.

To ensure player and fan safety, the BCCI decided to move the match to Ahmedabad. The situation is being closely monitored.

Mumbai Indians’ travel plans were also disrupted ahead of their May 8 match against Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala.

The match between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians, originally scheduled for Dharamsala on May 11, has been moved to Ahmedabad. Gujarat Cricket Association secretary Anil Patel confirmed this change.

Flight restrictions led to airport closures in cities like Jammu, Srinagar, and Amritsar until May 10, causing disruptions to travel plans, according to the Times of India.

Dharamsala’s Role as PBKS’s Secondary Home Ground

Dharamsala, the secondary home ground for Punjab Kings, had been used for their matches in previous IPL seasons. This year, PBKS was set to play three matches there, including against Delhi Capitals (May 8) and Mumbai Indians (May 11). PBKS won their first match in Dharamsala against Lucknow Super Giants.

Punjab Kings are hoping to make their first playoff appearance since 2014, currently sitting third on the points table with seven wins in 11 matches. Mumbai Indians, after a six-match winning streak, had their run halted by a last-ball loss to Gujarat Titans. The upcoming match will be the first between PBKS and MI this season, with the change in venue removing any home advantage for Punjab.
