IPL 2025: Toss and Early Setbacks for Delhi Capitals

Rajasthan Royals won the toss at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi and chose to bowl first. Delhi Capitals didn’t start well, as Jake Fraser-McGurk got out in the 3rd over to Jofra Archer.

Abishek Porel kept fighting at one end, but DC kept losing wickets from the other. Porel was the top scorer with 49 runs, while KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs added useful runs in the middle to help Delhi reach 188 for 5 in their 20 overs.

In response, Rajasthan Royals started strong with Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal hitting the ball all around the ground. But their momentum was slowed when Samson had to retire hurt after getting hit in the ribs.

Riyan Parag’s Struggles Continue

Riyan Parag came in at number 3 for Rajasthan but struggled and was bowled by Axar Patel for just 8 off 11 balls.

Nitish Rana was the standout batter for RR, hitting a quick half-century and building a strong partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal, who also scored his third fifty of the season.

In the end, Dhruv Jurel and Shimron Hetmyer tried to finish the chase, but a brilliant final over by Mitchell Starc meant the match ended in a tie at 188 runs each.

The game went to a Super Over, with Starc bowling for Delhi and Riyan Parag and Hetmyer batting for Rajasthan.

In the Super Over, things got messy for Rajasthan Royals. Riyan Parag was run out on a Free Hit after a mix-up with Hetmyer, even though Starc had bowled a no-ball. Then Yashasvi Jaiswal came in and ran out on his first ball while trying for a second run. RR managed only 11 runs.

Delhi Capitals sent KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs to chase, with Sandeep Sharma bowling for Rajasthan. Rahul hit a boundary, Stubbs smashed a six, and DC comfortably won the Super Over, moving up in the IPL points table.
