Former Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma has once again left his fans disappointed as he failed to score big runs against Delhi Capitals in the 63rd match of the ongoing 2025 season of the Indian Premier League on Wednesday, May 21.

Rohit Sharma Fails to Fire at Wankhede

Rohit Sharma, who was playing his first match at the Wankhede Stadium since a stand was recently named in his honour, was seen struggling to score runs, and he was eventually bowled out by DC’s left-arm fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman, with wicketkeeper Abishek Porel taking a sharp catch

Star opener Rohit Sharma couldn’t make an impact with the bat while opening alongside Ryan Rickelton in the crucial match against Delhi Capitals.

He looked uncomfortable against the DC bowlers and was dismissed in the third over, bowled by left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman.

On the second ball of the over, Mustafizur bowled a 132.4 kmph delivery with a scrambled seam that was full and angled away from outside the off-stump. Rohit tried to hit it hard over mid-on but got a thick outside edge instead. The ball flew to wicketkeeper Abishek Porel, who dived to his right and took a brilliant catch with both hands. Rohit was out after scoring just 5 runs from 5 balls.

Rohit has a tough record against Mustafizur in T20s. In 12 innings, he has scored only 122 runs at an average of 30.50 and a strike rate of 167.12, getting out to him 4 times.

Since IPL 2024, Rohit Sharma has struggled against left-arm pacers in the powerplay, scoring 150 runs off 95 balls at an average of 18.75 and a strike rate of 157.89, with 8 dismissals.

Overall in the IPL, he has scored 765 runs off 566 balls against left-arm pacers, averaging 23.18 with a strike rate of 135.15, and has been dismissed 33 times.
