IPL 2025: SRH’s Road To Playoffs After Defeat To Mumbai Indians

IPL 2025: Sunrisers Hyderabad are in trouble in IPL 2025. Their chances of making the playoffs took a big hit after another heavy loss, this time at their home ground.
IPL 2025: Mumbai Indians Secure Fourth Consecutive Win Against SRH
They were beaten by 7 wickets by the Mumbai Indians in the 41st match of the season. The game was played on Wednesday, April 23, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Mumbai Indians secured their fourth straight win in IPL 2025 by beating Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets. Batting first, the hosts had a poor start as Mumbai’s fast bowlers dominated early in the innings.
Sunrisers Hyderabad had a tough start, losing key batters like Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Nitish Kumar Reddy, and were struggling at 35/5. Heinrich Klaasen (71) and Impact Sub Abhinav Manohar (43) fought back with a 99-run stand, helping SRH reach 143/8. Trent Boult took key wickets for the Mumbai Indians.
In reply, Mumbai lost Ryan Rickelton early, but Rohit Sharma (70) led the chase with support from Will Jacks (22) and Suryakumar Yadav (40*). They won by seven wickets and moved to third place on the points table.
SRH’s Road to Playoffs: Can They Still Qualify for IPL 2025?
With their loss to Mumbai Indians, SRH now have 6 losses in IPL 2025 and are in 9th place with just 2 wins and 4 points.
Their path to the playoffs is tough. To qualify, they must win all of their remaining 6 games, reaching 16 points. If they win 5 of 6, they could still have a chance with 14 points, but their qualification would depend on Net Run Rate and other results.
Losing more than two games would end their playoff hopes. While mathematically possible, it will be difficult given how other teams are performing.
SRH will next play Chennai Super Kings on Friday, April 25, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
After that, they will travel to Ahmedabad to face the Gujarat Titans on Friday, May 2, followed by a home game against the Delhi Capitals on Monday, May 5.
