IPL 2025: Yuzvendra Chahal and Nicholas Pooran had a tough contest, but in the end, Chahal came out on top during the match between Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings at Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

The battle started in the 10th over of LSG’s innings when Yuzvendra Chahal came in to bowl for the first time. By then, Nicholas Pooran was settled at 18 runs from 18 balls.

Pooran decided to take on Chahal right away. He hit a four on the first ball. After a dot ball, he smashed the next two deliveries for a four and a six.

In the 11th over, Pooran kept up his aggressive batting, smashing a four and a six off Marcus Stoinis. Even though Chahal had given away 15 runs in his first over, PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer stuck with him, and it proved to be the right call.

In the 12th over, Chahal finally got the better of Pooran. He bowled a googly outside off stump, and Pooran tried to clear long-off but ended up hitting the ball straight to Glenn Maxwell, who made no mistake with the catch.

As Maxwell took the catch, Chahal let his emotions show, giving Pooran a heated send-off. Pooran walked back after scoring 44 runs from 30 balls.

LSG bounced back from a poor start to set a strong target of 171/7 in 20 overs. After being asked to bat first, they had a tough beginning, losing Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, and captain Rishabh Pant early in the powerplay.

However, key contributions from Nicholas Pooran, Ayush Badoni (41), and Abdul Samad (27 off 12) helped LSG reach a competitive total. For PBKS, Arshdeep Singh was the standout bowler, taking 3 wickets for 43 runs.
