Gujarat Titans are in the final. They beat Rajasthan Royals in a high-scoring Qualifier 2 and now they will face defending champions RCB in the title clash this Sunday, May 31. The match starts at 7:30 PM IST at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad which also happens to be GT’s home ground.

How Did Gujarat Titans Reach the IPL 2026 Final?

Under Shubman Gill, GT finished second on the points table at the end of the league stage. They won nine matches and lost five from 14 games, picking up 18 points. Their NRR of 0.695 was also one of the better ones in the competition.

They lost to RCB in Qualifier 1 but came back strongly against Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2 to book their spot in the final.

Gujarat Titans Overall Record at Narendra Modi Stadium

Matches Wins Losses
30 18 12

GT have played 30 matches at their home ground and won 18 of them. That is a 60 percent win rate, which is a pretty solid number when you think about it. Not many teams are that comfortable at one venue.

In IPL 2026 alone, they played seven games here and won five. And out of those five wins, four came back to back. GT have not lost a single game at this ground in over a month now.

Matches Wins Losses
3 2 1

GT’s history with this ground in playoff cricket is interesting. Their very first IPL match at the Narendra Modi Stadium was actually a final the 2022 IPL final against Rajasthan Royals. They won that by seven wickets and lifted the trophy in their debut season itself.

Then in 2023, they beat Mumbai Indians by 62 runs in Qualifier 2 at this ground. But they went on to lose the final to CSK in a rain-affected last-ball finish.

The IPL 2026 final will be their first playoff match at this venue in over three years.

Does the Home Ground Advantage Actually Matter for GT?

GT finished behind RCB in the league stage and also lost to them in Qualifier 1 earlier this week. So on paper, RCB look like the stronger side heading into Sunday.

But playing at home means something. The crowd will be behind them, they know the surface well, and they are currently on a four-match winning run at this ground. Teams do not always win just because they are playing at home, but it does give them a certain comfort that is hard to explain in numbers.

Shubman Gill and his team will be well aware of all this. And when the final arrives on Sunday evening, they will be looking to make the most of every little advantage they have.
