Bhuvneshwar hit a match-winning six for his team, and he played beautifully with the bat and ball both. Now, former Indian players Ravichandran Ashwin and Krrish Srikanth asked selectors to pick him in the national team squad. The veteran fast bowler played a decisive role in the thrilling clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Mumbai Indians in Raipur, producing a match-winning spell of four wickets before smashing a crucial six in the final over to finish the contest in style.

Bhuvneshwar is on top Purple Cap List

So far this season, Bhuvneshwar has taken 21 wickets in 11 matches, maintaining an impressive average of 15.29 while conceding runs at an economy rate of 7.47. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Srikkanth said the veteran effectively turned the game in RCB’s favour during his second over, where he removed both Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav off successive deliveries.

Bhuvenshwar played last match in 2022

Bhuvneshwar Kumar last represented India in November 2022, but his performances in IPL 2026 have once again sparked discussions about a possible comeback to the national side.Speaking on JioStar, Ravichandran Ashwin praised the veteran pacer for his outstanding season, calling it “Bhuvneshwar’s tournament.” Ashwin highlighted the amount of effort the experienced seamer has put into staying relevant in the shortest format, especially through domestic T20 cricket and his commitment to fitness.

Ashwin said Bhuvneshwar has worked tirelessly behind the scenes, featuring in every T20 opportunity available to him while maintaining high fitness standards. He also described the RCB pacer as a humble and dependable cricketer who brings immense value to any dressing room. Ashwin said he would personally like to see Bhuvneshwar back in contention for India, pointing to his ability to swing the new ball, deliver consistently at the death, and even contribute with the bat in pressure moments.
