IPL 2026: In the Indian Premier League (IPL) Today, on 6th May, it is a fiery clash between the Orange Army and the Punjab Kings. The Punjab team’s much-talked-about batting unit will be under pressure as they aim to halt a sudden slide in form when they take on Sunrisers Hyderabad in Wednesday’s IPL 2026 fixture. After racing to six straight wins and looking like the team to beat early on, PBKS have stumbled in their last two matches, revealing cracks they can’t afford to ignore. Let’s see the predicted playing XI, head-to-head stats, and pitch report.

Punjab Kings aims to win Today

Despite sitting at the top of the table with 13 points from nine games, the gap has narrowed considerably. Teams such as Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals, and Gujarat Titans are breathing down their neck, each just a point behind, making the contest tighter than ever.

Head To Head b/w SRH and PBKS

The head-to-head between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings has been quite one-sided. Out of 25 matches played, SRH have won 17, while PBKS have managed 8 victories. The stats show SRH’s dominance and consistency in this rivalry, but PBKS still have the potential to pull off surprises, making their clashes exciting to watch.

All eyes will be on Priyansh and Prabhsimran

The dip in momentum has been evident. Punjab’s explosive batting, which earlier covered up their bowling concerns, hasn’t fired in recent outings. Their top order, once a major strength, has looked vulnerable, with Priyansh Arya, Prabhsimran Singh and Cooper Connolly struggling to provide solid starts. The middle order hasn’t helped matters either, failing to stitch together meaningful partnerships and leaning too much on individual brilliance rather than collective effort.

Sunrisers Hyderabad Predicted playing 11

Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Ishan Kishan (WK), Heinrich Klaasen, Salil Arora (WK), Aniket Verma, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Pat Cummins (C), Harsh Dubey, Praful Hinge, Eshan Malinga.

Punjab Kings Predicted playing 11

Prabhsimran Singh (WK), Priyansh Arya, Cooper Connolly, Shreyas Iyer (C), Suryansh Shedge, Nehal Wadhera, Marcus Stoinis, Marco Jansen, Xavier Bartlett, Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal.

Pitch Report

The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium is likely to dish out another batting-friendly track, giving stroke-makers the freedom to play their natural, attacking game. Bowlers, meanwhile, won’t have much room for mistakes on a surface like this. With plenty of big hitters on both sides, the powerplay overs could be crucial, as each team will look to cash in on the fielding restrictions and set the tone early.
