There has always been an understanding that cricket is a team sport. No matter how important the game is, every team member is required to contribute their best effort for the group to have any chance of emerging victorious. However, a cricket team comprises more than just its batters, fielders, and bowlers; it also includes the eleven players on the field at any given time. Many unsung heroes on a team’s support staff put in long hours behind the scenes so that the players may focus on the game at hand. When we think about support personnel in cricket, our minds immediately go to the coaches. Considering the nature of the sport, this makes sense. On the other hand, cricket teams are typically filled to the brim with players who take on various responsibilities.
Let’s take a look at the Ireland Cricket team’s coaching staff:

Together with the players, he will be in charge of cultivating connections with Cricket Ireland’s many stakeholders and discovering the potential for success.
Heinrich Malan: Head coach
Heinrich Malan has replaced Graham Ford as head coach of the Irish men’s cricket team. The 40-year-old South African has lived and worked in New Zealand for a long time, most recently as the coach of the Auckland Aces. He has established himself as an unconventional coach who isn’t afraid to shake things up by adopting a more all-encompassing perspective. He has a strong interest in player development and is an outspoken supporter of sports science, especially as it pertains to preparing players for competition on the international stage.

Across all international formats, he scored 3385 runs, for a total of 5959 for Ireland, with an ODI century among them. Wilson received recognition for more than just his exceptional coaching abilities; he was also credited with directing a successful pathway process over the past year. He has played a crucial role in reshaping youth cricket and expanding development options across age groups.
Ryan Eagleson: Pace bowling coach
Cricket Former international Ryan Eagleson was given multiple full-time contracts to join the coaching staff of the Ireland men’s senior team. The 47-year-old seam bowler has appeared 65 times for the Irish national team and played for Derbyshire, Essex, and Glamorgan in the English county system. He is one of only a few coaches in Ireland with the ECB’s highest Level 4 certification, and he has led multiple U-19 Ireland teams to the World Cup.
Since 2009, he has served as the National Academy’s performance and pathway coach; since September 2021, he was also seconded to serve as the team’s head bowling coach. He’s now the High-Performance Pace Bowling coach.
Nathan Hauritz: Spin bowling coach
Former Australian spinner Nathan Hauritz has been hired as Ireland’s spin bowling coach.
