England pacer James Anderson achieved a major milestone on Thursday as he become the first player to appear in 100 home Tests for any side. The 40-year-old England cricketer led the attack with three wickets as South Africa shot out for 151 on the first day of the second Test at Old Trafford. In reply to South Africa’s small total, England are 111/3 at stumps.

Earlier, the 40-year-old England great struck twice in two balls to reduce the visitors to 92/7 after the first session. In the end, the England legend returned with impressive figures of 32/3 from 15 overs. However, the last three wickets of South Africa added 59 runs to get the team to go past the 150 mark.
James Anderson: King of swing
Earlier, South Africa took a big gamble, deciding to bat in overcast conditions. They lost their plot with Anderson running in with wild swing and extra bounce to torment the batters. Meanwhile, Anderson’s partner, Stuart Broad also bagged three wickets while skipper Ben Stokes returned with two wickets for England.
England will resume day four, hoping that Jonny Bairstow (38 batting) will continue to dominate the South African leaders and extend the home team’s first innings lead. South African pacer Kagiso Rabada was the lone bright spot for the visitors as he top-scored with a valuable 36 and later grabbed two wickets with the ball. The Proteas fans will hope Rabada continues his good run and dismiss the remaining England batters early on day two. Meanwhile, England is trailing 1-0 in the series after losing the first Test.
