Joao Fonseca of Brazil emerged victorious to lift the Next Gen ATP Finals title in Jeddah. The 18-year-old beat US star Learner Tien in Sunday’s final.
The youngest and lowest-ranked player in the draw, Fonseca rallied from a set down to seal a 2-4, 4-3(8), 4-0, 4-2 triumph.
Both Fonseca and Tien impressed in Jeddah, moving past higher-ranked opposition such as Arthur Fils, Jakub Mensik, and Alex Michelsen to reach the final.
There were no ranking points on offer in Next Gen ATP Finals in Jeddah and the tournament is seen as providing a platform to young ATP stars a further chance to compete on a global stage.

Prize money earned by Joao Fonseca
A total prize money haul of $2,050,000 was available across the field in Jeddah, a slight increase on the $2,000,000 pool from 2023.
Fonseca took home an impressive reward of $526,480 after he remained throughout the tournament following three wins in as many group stage matches .
That almost triples the teenager’s pre-existing career prize money up to this point, with a total haul of $292,146 to his name before entering into the Next Gen Finals.
With two round-robin victories and a semi-final win to his name, plus the appearance payout of $150,000, 19-year-old Tien walked away with $336,820. That almost doubled the American’s previous career earnings of $382,234.
Adding three group stage wins to his $150,000 appearance fee, Michelsen was rewarded $259,980 in Jeddah.
Meanwhile, Fils earned £186,660 after notching up one round-robin victory, while Mensik took home $150,000 as a participation amount after failing to win a match at the tournament.
