Jon Moxley is going through one of the toughest phases of his AEW career. Losses have kept coming, and confidence seems low. He tapped out at WrestleDream 2025, and again on Dynamite, Bloods and Guts and suffered another submission defeat at full gear.
Even the continental classic has not gone his way. Full Gear saw an early win, but Moxley lost back-to-back matches, including a shocking defeat to Claudio Castagnoli and another loss to Konosuke Takeshita.
Because of this rough run, many fans believe moxley’s time with the Death Riders could be ending soon. Either Moxley walks away on his own, or the group turns on him, just like they did with Bryan Danielson last year. If that happens, the faction will need a Danielson settlement.
Here are three wrestlers who could replace Jon Moxley in The Death Riders:
Gabe Kidd
Gabe Kidd has already worked closely with the death riders in the past. He first appeared during a steel cage match on Dynamite Beach Break, where he helped Moxley keep his AEW World title. After that, Kidd acted like the Moxley fighter of the group and caused damage in several big matches leading up or double or nothing 2025.
He later joined Claudio Castagnoli and wheeler Yuta in trios action and even took part in major matches behind the forbidden door. While Kidd is currently focused on New Japan Pro Wrestling, he has left a strong impression on AEW. If Moxely exits the group, Kidd could return to fill the gap and keep death riders dangerous.
Konosuke Takeshita
Konosuke Takeshita is on a strong run right now. He sits near the top of the continental classic standing and recently defeated Jon Moxley clean. At the same time tension is growing within the Don Callis family, especially between Takeshite and Kazuchika Okada.
If Takeshite gets pushed out of his current group, the Death Riders could offer him a new home. He already has a history teaming with members like Claudio and Pac, which makes the move powerful and focused. Takeshita could push the group in a new and exciting direction.
Roderick Strong
Roderick Strong has crossed paths with Jon Moxley many times in recent months. Their rivalry heated up after strong and Kyle O’Reilly clashed with the death riders over respect and loyalty issues. Although Roddy lost his first match to Moxley, he later picked up a key win with outside help.
Strong replaced O’Reilly in the continental Classic and still has a chance to finish ahead of Moxley in the standings. If that happens, the death riders could see strong as the better option moving forward. Kicking Moxley out and bringing strong in would be a bold move but one that fits the group’s ruthless nature.
