Lionel Messi and Erling Haaland, who are colleagues for Argentina and Manchester City, respectively, are two of the best forwards in the world, and Julián Alvarez considers it an honor to learn from them.
The 22-year-old, who joined City from River Plate in the summer, has started just twice in the Premier League despite scoring 17 goals overall. But he is anticipated to start with Messi for his country at the World Cup in Qatar this month.
With Haaland still out with a foot injury for City’s final Champions’ League group match against Sevilla at home on Wednesday, Alvarez is expected to start.
“It’s a privilege playing with him, and it is always fantastic to play with the finest in the world,” Alvarez said of competing against Haaland. I believe that both of us can benefit from one another. I appreciate his constant desire to add the greatest players to the team”.
“You constantly learn just by watching him,” he remarked of Messi, “though it’s difficult to mimic what he does. We are all aware of his accomplishments and that he is undoubtedly the best player in the world. I’m fortunate to have the opportunity to play on the same field as him right now.
Lvarez, who also represented Argentina while playing for City, sought advice from Agüero, who is the club’s all-time greatest scorer. He said, “I had a chat with him when I discovered I could be coming here. I’m fortunate to be able to play on the same field with him right now.
“I communicated with Agüero and other [Argentine] players during a six-month period to enquire about the area, the city, and the club. It is typically a good idea to be prepared when visiting a new location. “The accomplishments made by Kun are known to us all. He had a great time and put on some incredible performances. He scored several excellent goals, but all the Argentines presents did a good job. Everyone remembers him with tremendous affection, so I knew I wanted to use him as a reference the instant I arrived.
