India emerged as the champions in both men’s and women’s Kabaddi World Cup 2025. The tournament was historic as the competition was held for the first time outside Asia.
England hosted the second edition of the Kabaddi World Cup with venues in Wolverhampton, Coventry, Birmingham and Walsall.
Africa, Asia, Oceania, the Americas and Europe have taken part in the tournament.
In the men’s competition, India beat England in the final with the scoreline of 44-41 to lift the trophy in Wolverhampton on Sunday. The Asian side took a 10-point lead at the halftime break.
However, England raider Shreyas Annadate got the side three crucial points early in the second half before a massive defensive effort from Mandeep Singh brought the team within four points less than a minute later.
The Indian side, on the other hand, stayed firm in defence over the final five minutes to beat the tournament host.
Meanwhile, Scotland men’s team beat Wales in the bronze medal match of the Kabaddi World Cup.
The men’s team will now be heading for the upcoming season of Pro Kabaddi League.
India’s complete dominance in Women’s Kabaddi World Cup
In the women’s competition, the Indian team showed complete dominance, as they cruised to the top spot in Group D with a whopping 217-point lead over second-placed Wales.
India women finished the group stage with a 160 score difference. The next closest team England only managed a score difference of 76!
In the final match, Indian women defeated host England 57-34.

“I think for Team England women, we’re going to keep pushing forwards. We’ve got lots of other tournaments that we’re already looking at and want to be part of and it’s just to keep building from here and get that experience as well.”

Kabaddi fans will now turn their attention to the Beach National Kabaddi Championship for men and women, which will play out in Tamilnadu before March 27 and 29.
