Kane Williamson impressed one and all on Day 3 of the third and final Test between New Zealand and England at Seddon Park in Hamilton. He scored his 33rd century in a big way, hitting six to reach the milestone.
Kane Williamson made history by scoring a century against England, becoming the first batter to hit five consecutive centuries at the same venue in Hamilton. His amazing knock came after heavy rain had cancelled the morning session.
The legendary Kiwi batter quickly took charge of New Zealand’s innings against England in the ongoing third and final Test. While on 86, Williamson was dropped by England’s Ollie Pope, giving him a second chance. He made the most of this opportunity, going on to score his fifth consecutive century at Seddon Park, extending his impressive record.

With his century in Hamilton, Kane Williamson became the first batter in Test cricket history to score five consecutive centuries at a single venue. It was his 33rd Test century, his 20th in New Zealand, and his seventh at the famous Seddon Park. Impressively, he has scored fifty or more 12 times in just 21 innings at this venue.

With his stunning century, Kane Williamson has achieved several personal milestones in the longest format of this game. Williamson became the first New Zealand batter to score 7 Test hundreds at a single venue, overtaking the legendary Ross Taylor, who had six centuries under his name in Test cricket.
Williamson joined an elite list of cricketers with multiple Test centuries at a single venue, including Martin Crowe, who also managed to smash five hundreds at Wellington’s Basin Reserve.
In Test cricket, only four players have more centuries at a single venue than Kane Williamson. Mahela Jayawardene (11 centuries in Colombo), Sir Don Bradman (9 in Melbourne), Jacques Kallis (9 in Cape Town), and Kumar Sangakkara (8 in Colombo) have all scored more centuries at one ground than Williamson.
With his fifth consecutive Test century in Hamilton, Williamson joined a group of five greats who have hit seven centuries at the same venue. These players include Michael Clarke (Adelaide), Mahela Jayawardene (Galle), Mominul Haque (Chattogram), Joe Root (Lord’s), and Kumar Sangakkara (Galle).
Third Fastest to 33 Test Centuries:
Kane Williamson reached his 33rd Test century, joining his Australian counterpart, Steve Smith, as the second-highest century scorers in this generation. Among the modern era’s ‘Fab Four,’ only England’s Joe Root, with 36 centuries, has more Test centuries than Williamson and Smith. Virat Kohli has scored 30 centuries in Test cricket.
At the start of 2021, Virat Kohli was leading the Fab Four with 27 Test centuries, followed by Steve Smith (26), Kane Williamson (24), and Joe Root (17). Now, Root leads with 36 centuries, followed by Williamson and Smith, both with 33, and Kohli with 30, due to Kohli’s recent struggles with the bat.
Williamson played an outstanding innings of 156 runs off 204 balls, hitting 20 boundaries and one six, helping New Zealand set a challenging target of 640 runs for England to win the final Test in Hamilton.
