Klopp says, “still against idea of Super League”

Jurgen Klopp has affirmed that he still is in the opposition of having a Super League despite Liverpool formally joining a proposed breakaway alliance.

However, Klopp has demonstrated he has no plans of leaving Liverpool, saying rather he will “attempt to assist with arranging a middle-ground by one way or another”.

In 2019, Klopp was public in his disapproval of the Super League proposition, saying: “I trust this Super League won’t ever come in action. With how the Champions League is presently running, football has an incredible competition, even with the Europa League.

In pre-match Press Conference, Klopp reacted: “My assessment didn’t change. Clearly, I heard interestingly about it yesterday and attempting to set up a game, a troublesome game against Leeds, and I knew so far we got some data, not a ton to be straightforward.

“It’s a tough one. People are not happy about it, and I can understand that, but I cannot say a lot more about it because we were not involved in any processes, not the players not me, we didn’t know about it. We will have to wait to see how it develops.

Football pundit Gary Neville said, “Jurgen Klopp has come out tonight and done it in a very calm fashion which he has to do from the position he is in, and he has destroyed his club’s owners on national television.”
