Labuschagne, who debuted in Test cricket in 2018, is looking forward to the challenge of facing Siraj, who made his Test debut in the Melbourne Test during India’s famous 2020-21 tour of Australia. Speaking in an interview with Star Sports, Labuschagne praised Siraj’s vitality, energy, and love for the game.

“I enjoy battles with Mohammed Siraj. We were at the academy back in 2015-16, where he worked with the MRF Pace Academy. We played against each other, and that was the first time I met him. Watching his career unfold has been great. He brings incredible energy, passion, and love for the game. Our careers have been progressing together, though we come from very different backgrounds,” Labuschagne said.

While the focus remains on the Australia vs India series, Australian cricket stalwarts like Steve Smith, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Alex Carey have been vocal about India’s rising talent, Yashasvi Jaiswal. They believe Jaiswal could be India’s next cricket superstar, highlighting his potential to dominate the future generation of the sport.

In a video shared by Star Sports Tamil on X (formerly Twitter), several top Australian players were asked to name the Indian cricketer they believe could become the next superstar. Steve Smith was quick to pick Jaiswal, calling him a “generational superstar.”

“Jaiswal is probably the next big superstar, I think,” Starc added, while Hazlewood, Carey, and Lyon echoed similar sentiments.

Labuschagne, too, has been keeping an eye on Jaiswal’s progress and praised his versatility. “Jaiswal looks like a proper cricketer for all formats,” Labuschagne said, adding that both Jaiswal and Shubman Gill have what it takes to be the future of Indian cricket.

Gill also received high praise from Australian players. Travis Head and Cameron Green named him as their pick for the next big Indian cricket star. “Shubman Gill, I think, is going to be an absolute freak,” Head remarked, referring to Gill’s extraordinary ability to make difficult bowling look easy.

As the Border-Gavaskar Trophy approaches, the excitement builds around not only the seasoned players but also the emerging stars who could shape the future of cricket.
