Lionel Messi recently shared his love for Barcelona as the club celebrated its 125th anniversary. Although he couldn’t attend the special event held on Friday, November 29, the Argentine football legend made his presence felt through social media.
Messi posted 13 memorable photos from his time at Barcelona, calling the club “the best in the world.” In his heartfelt Instagram message, he wrote:

Lionel Messi’s journey at Barcelona began when he was just a young boy. Over the years, he grew into one of the greatest footballers ever. During his time at Camp Nou, Messi won an incredible 35 trophies and scored 672 goals with 303 assists in 778 matches. His achievements made him a symbol of success and excellence for the club.
However, Messi had to leave Barcelona in 2021 due to financial struggles within the club. Despite his willingness to take a pay cut, the club was unable to renew his contract. This led him to join Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) before eventually moving to Inter Miami in 2023, where he currently plays.

Back in 2021, Messi reportedly agreed to a 50% pay cut to stay at Barcelona. However, the club later told him it wasn’t possible and advised him to find a new team. This decision left Messi disappointed, and it seems the issue remains unresolved.
